Usually found stimulating the pop-listening masses with songs about ‘pimpin’ ’’ and harshly exhorting certain female drivers to get out of his way, Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris, (whose real name is Christopher Bridges) spent Labor Day weekend playing a one-man stimulus program in Atlanta giving away 20 cars to Georgia residents in need of help. The promotion called ‘Stars for Cars-LudaDay Giveaway’ was created by the rap star’s charity, the Ludacris Foundation.

The giveaway was done in conjunction with dealership Nissan South in Atlanta and the rap star received about 4,000 written responses of which 20 were selected.
One particular contestant struck a chord with the rapper. A refugee from the Sudan, Mading Duor, wrote that he had fled his homeland after his mother, father and five siblings were killed. He also lost his own son in Atlanta after he was hit by a drunk driver.

Ludacris told the gathering on Sunday, “His story touched my heart. He’s endured so much in his life and he’s still here standing. I’m very proud to have helped him.”
