Haagen-Dazs is giving away a free scoop of any ‘bee-built’ ice cream flavor at its shops today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Among the bee-built flavors are Vanilla Honey Bee, Caramelized Pear and Toasted Pecan, Cherry Vanilla, Chocolate Peanut Butter, White Chocolate and Raspberry Truffle.

The ice cream maker has begun branding some flavors as bee-built to raise awareness of products made with ingredients that wouldn’t be possible without bee pollination.

Haagen-Dazs also launched a website to raise awareness of the dwindling bee population.

Haagen-Dazs says it is donating a portion of sales from bee-built flavors to UC Davis and to Penn State University, both of which have highly regarded research programs for sustainable honeybee pollination.

Over the last two years, the company has donated half a million dollars to the universities’ research programs, Haagen-Dazs said in a release.
