Don't they mean, 'Honk if I'M paying YOUR mortgage'?
I'm not sure the anti-housing-bailout camp really thought this one through.
The Tennessee Republican Party last week began selling the bumper sticker shown below. The party website says the sticker is "designed to let people express their frustration with the relentless march by the Obama administration and the out-of-control Democrat Congress to enact endless 'bailouts' and 'economic stimulus' packages that are pushing America trillions of dollars deeper into debt."
Uh, OK. But if I've got one of these on my bumper, doesn't that suggest to the unaware that I'm a bailout beneficiary -- and proud of it?
Isn't that just asking for my tires to be slashed?

Honk if you're tired of Republican politicking!
Typical Republican nonsense.
"We" are not paying people's mortgages. Most of what the former Republican administration did AND the present Democratic administration is doing is intended to "rescue" bankers and investors from their losses.
Why doesn't the brave Tennessee Republican Party rail against the big boys instead of the stupid "loan"-owner who's left holding the bag.

Actually, it works both ways:
Silence = "Heck NO, I'm not paying your mortgage"
Honk = "If you realize that you're being FORCED to pay mine"

I believe we're approaching a point of public anger where we are going to start seeing real consequences--tire slashing may be the least of it. Those who have fueled that anger for political or other gain will, unfortunately, probably not be the ones to suffer the most.
There are a handful of reasons why I'm moving from the capital of my state to a very small, very isolated town, not all connected to the possibility of social unrest as the economy spirals downward--but it's a contributing factor. I'd a lot rather read my news in the paper than get caught up in it as I'm walking down the street.

This is just one baby step in the GOP's quest for a new identity.

Clever use of Obama's logo.

Another, typical, faux pas of the totally at sea Republicans who refuse to acknowledge the policies and missteps instituted by their party, and adherents, which bear responsibility for the housing bubble. Notwithstanding 'liar loans' and the imbecilic notions of the Rick Santelli's of the country, lenders, bankers and the mavens of Wall Street fell prey to pure greed, at the expense of even reasonable credit standards, not to mention prudent risk management. The Republican Party has been gutted, and they continue to actually make fools of themselves with the likes of Boehner, Jindal, Palin, Pawlenty and their high priest of divisiveness and hate, the pig Limbaugh. If they had any intelligent leadership they'd simply shut up and attempt to weather the storm.

Had there not been a temporary, unjamming of the California legislature's stalemate on economics, I'm pretty sure people would have been out in the streets with pitchforks and torches by now. Cars honking and misunderstood economic and political practices, may yet be the least of our concerns. I guess it was OK with the Republicans to get us into this.

Gee, the Repubs are whining about saving some 'little people' - the same LITTLE PEOPLE they used as cannon fodder for their highly PROFITABLE, UNJUSTIFIED wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Where was their PATRIOTISM when Cheney's Halliburton and Bush's KBR were racking up obscene profits while doing NO work, and actually KILLING our troops in Iraq with shoddy electrical work? So BRAVE, you corrupt, duplicitous, two-faced PARASITES. Lucky for you, the leadership of the Dems is equally REPREHENSIBLE, with frank, pelosi, reid and dodd.

there is no logic whatsoever in claiming that since the Republicans were wrong, the Democrats must be right.

Buy a house and pay no taxes for a year. That is what the government is saying with the most generous tax credits in history for first time buyers of new homes. Buyers in California with incomes under $75,000 can cash in on $18,000 in tax credits ($10k in state, $8k in federal) that were slipped into the stimulus program. This is on top of incredibly generous financing, free upgrades, and no fee loans offered by desperate sellers. The package also raised the FHA loan limit from $625,000 back up to $725,000, crucial in the high cost markets of California, New York, and Florida. The only catch is that you have to stay in the house for three years to reap the full benefit. Flippers need not apply.

We actually offer the CORRECTED version of these bumper stickers on our website. http://www.jabronitools.com
We agree, it should read "Honk if I'M paying YOUR mortgage."
