Aging baby boomers whose ears are still ringing from the “Saturday Night!” visits to the local drag strip back in the ‘60s and ‘70s may want to make a pilgrimage to Bakersfield this weekend.

The three-day March Meet runs Friday through Sunday at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway in California’s country music capital. The event, now in its 51st year, is heavy on the nostalgia, featuring reproductions of Nixon- and Carter-era (and even older) Top Fuel dragsters, funny cars and other fire breathers that used to smoke their tires at drag strips around the country on Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons.

Some 500 cars from around the world are expected to compete in 14 classes over the three-day event, which will also feature a hot rod show, swap meet and vendors’ midway.

For ticket prices and other info, check out the raceway’s website.

And don’t forget your ear plugs.
