Malibu-based toy maker Jakks Pacific Inc. will unveil its EyeClops Mini Projector at the Toy Industry Association’s annual Toy Fair in New York next week -- as well as some lower prices.

The company’s latest toy is a pocket-sized, lightweight gadget that uses LED illumination to project movies, television shows and video games up to 70 inches in size from multimedia devices including DVD players, video game consoles and digital cameras.

Although Jakks calls the toy ‘a big-screen TV experience that fits in the palm of your hand,’ it doesn’t come with a huge price tag. In keeping with the company’s goal of offering all of its interactive toys for less than $100, the suggested retail price for the EyeClops Mini Projector is $99.99.

Jakks is also revamping some of its older products for 2009 and lowering the prices on the newer versions, including its EyeClops Night Vision toy. Last year, the night vision gadgets were sold for $79.99; the company’s 2009 model will be handheld (instead of in goggle form) with a suggested retail price of $59.99 -- $20 less than last year’s version.

‘With our 2009 EyeClops lineup, we are taking consumer electronics that are typically expensive and out of reach for most families and making them available in the toy aisle with fun, playable features and at an affordable price,’ said John Ardell, senior vice president of interactive at Jakks. ‘We are very sensitive to how tough the economic environment is affecting families.’

The company’s 2009 toys will hit retail shelves in the fall.
