Very interesting and important discussion by L.A. Land commenters on why people opt for suburban or sprawl type living. The fact that many if not most people find it unpleasant to live packed together like sardines is a thread that has gone largely unexplored among those who are trying to figure out how to keep development closer to the urban core. But I think that’s not quite the same discussion as the one that needs to take place about whether we should continue to build in the fire zones. Here are a few links to some Times stories on the subject. If we have to sprawl, can’t we do it somewhere else?
