San Diego Navy personnel headed to Haiti

Fifty-five medical personnel from the Naval Medical Center San Diego are joining Navy ships who are heading to earthquake-stricken Haiti to aid in relief efforts, the Navy announced today.

Twelve will join the hospital ship Comfort as it leaves Saturday from its home port in Baltimore, Md.

The other 43 will join the amphibious assault ship Bataan in Norfolk, Va. Among the personnel are doctors, nurses, corpsmen, logistics specialists, and other support staff, the Navy said.
