George Laguerre, owner of TiGeorge’s Chicken in Echo Park, will be hosting a dinner Thursday night on behalf of victims of the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti on Tuesday. ‘There will be several Haitian relief organizations here,’ he said, adding that proceeds from food sales will go to the relief effort collaborators, which will be announced Thursday.

Laguerre has family in Haiti and has managed to contact one of his cousins. The conversation was broken and muffled, he said, but from what he could understand, the situation in the island nation is horrific. He said he has not managed to reach other family members, most of whom live in the capital, Port-au-Prince, which was near the epicenter of the quake.
