Felicitaciones a ABSOLUT. The gringos speak despotic and indignant of the Mexican culture, until of indecency; When the same abused a territory that was not his; So that they did not do it in his native earth or with Ireland? Only cowardliness. It is a race of abusing cowards. But the nature of the man and its roots are strong. What this happening at the moment in the EU, is the natural recovery than he is ours, apart from which the EU started his decay and will sign his sentence if the black president wins. Congratulations to ABSOLUT.

I think it’s great that 3 days AFTER the Swedish Government sold Absolut to a French company they run this ad…

Maybe the Swedes aren’t that dumb, they hate the French more than the US!

This ad may have shed light to all the injustices that occured between the U.S. and Mexico in the past. All accusations are valid and factual.

But we fail to recognize that some people vote with their "feet". With that said, how many Americans have gone into Mexico looking for opportunities when compared to how many Mexicans have come to the U.S.?

Everyone knows the answer, thereby one should not really care what an ad seems to project. Give those "reconquista" advocates a break...Should the U.S. be Mexico in the future, Canada will probably criticized for building a massive wall and be hard pressed to add Spanish as an official language making them a "Tri-Lingual Nation."

Hmmm... That's a VERY interesting story ! A commercial company creates an advertisement and a powerful country gets upside-down ! How about making the parallel with the Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia (FYROM) who proclaims itself "Rebublic of Macedonia" and, thus, usurpates the name of a whole region belonging to Greece ? How about the maps and the propaganda they have been promoting, claiming that Alexander the Great was one of their ancestors and that the new country's territories should englobe those of neighboring Greece? The commercial company had to issue an official apology. How is it possible that the American President G.W.Bush hastily recognizes and calls the country simply by its short name ("Macedonia"), knowing that the United Nations use exclusively the name FYROM and knowing that such a behaviour is unacceptable for one of its NATO allies, Greece? Will the Greek people be addressed with an official apology by Mr. Bush? How is it possible that the Americans use two weighs and two measures, depending on if the issue matters for them or for any other of the rest of the world? Please, think about it.

AMERICANS, STOP IT...

Do you think the Mexican people would have this over-the-top reaction should Absolut create an ad with a map of the United States and Mexico as one country, a revamped flag with 51 stars in bold red, white and blue, and an advertising phrase "Abolute possibility if necessary"?

C'mon, its only an ad to sell a product. I really don't think the Mexican people would not have the same reaction we would, would they? On second thought...

AMERICA, CONTINUE ON....

I think it’s great that 3 days AFTER the Swedish Government sold Absolut to a French company they run this ad…

Maybe the Swedes aren’t that dumb, they hate the French more than the US!

Viva Reconquista!!! Viva Absolut!!! It's our country and we're taking it back. America's daughters will bear Mexican children!!!

You printed "Angry Mexican":
"The womb of the Hispanic woman is the most powerful weapon of the reconquista. Our numbers will soon overwhelm the bigots and racists, and no damn wall is going to stop us. WE WILL BURY YOU!!! VIVA LA RAZA!!!!"
But you never printed my response:
Leave it to an Angry Mexican to use a woman to fight the battles he himself is too impotent to fight himself.
"LA RAZA" - sounds a bit racist.; it's also a non-profit organization funded by the U.S. government. Can't ask for any better war by proxy than that.

Let's not forget the war with Texas was because Texans wanted to continue owning slaves - which was illegal under Mexican law.
The US stole that land by force of arms. And now hasn't even the sense of humour to acknowledge it.

OK, OK already! So ban Absolut Vodka.
Have some TEQUILA instead. Ha ha ha!!!!

I love the Ad its so funny and i can't believe people are making a big deal about it. Everybody just needs to stop making a big deal out it since there's nothing offensive about it

I don't understand why we are so offended by this ad. It is a fact that these lands once belonged to Mexico. We should be offended if the information displayed was nonfactual. It is also true that the United States does not report the history accurately. It is not a war when you come into my home and put a gun against my head. This is called invasion, harrasment, bullying and stealing. Mexico had no other choice but to surrender to the demands of the United States when they deployed U.S soldiers to the port of Vera Cruz and threatned to send more troops to occupy the entire ports of the nation. United States invaded Mexico at a perfect time, when Mexico was depleted, and ravished by it's long lasting Independence War.This historical event exhibited the sentiment by the United States of "Manifest Destiny" Hence, my fellow U.S Citizens we should not be afraid of the truth, the truth is what sets us free. Let the United States exhibit it's whole integrity by accepting the facts and not tweeking or concealing the events behind this unjustifiable historical event. Let's savor the present, the truth and refute
conquering or buying at the expense of someone else's sufferment.

I think it's silly it is only a map. The US pretty much stole the land from Mexico. What the US should feel is shame when looking at the add. The whole immigration issue is sensitive and I think it is just people trying to make something out of nothing. I personally and not a big drinker but I would try this product just because of the add. And I don't think the company should have apologized for anything. All those who want to boycot should get a life.

Seriously, what's the big deal? It was an ad that the company pulled and apologized for. Real scary.

The only negative thing I've seen is the reaction. Seriously people, stop making fools of yourselves, and just ignore it. Its not like a vodka company is going to try and invade the U.S.

I fail to see how this add has to do with illegal immigration, i seem to recall an add about a chihuahua and a taco, and yet this add hurt your feelings, grow up! the hispanics that write against illegal immigration are pathetic, how did they get there? It must be hard not to belong anywhere!

William you said: "We paid Mexico twice for the land, we gained freedom in Texas and then fought the war and won the battle". Well to be honest it was half of the price the US offered so it seems that you dont know your history very well and you are US citizen. Even I am Dutch it seems that I know more about the situation than it is stated here above by US citizens. Besides, I think it is really stupid and a complete error to make such a problem just about an advertisement that is showing something completely different.

I have never in my life seen such a bunch of drunks soooooo up in arms because of an ad!! Cheers!!

Come on! get over yourself I am a mexican I haven't seen that commercial, we did not make that commercial, they don't call you estadouniDENSEs for nothing, the US has divided more countries in the pursuit of money and well being for americans not the rest of the world, you have earned the hatred, I personally don't hate americans or America, but you should lighten up. The mexican-americans who complain about immigrants are just pathetic, how did they get over there, it must be hard not to being accepted in your country and in your ancestors country either, by the way mexicans don't drink vodka that much.

For all the gringos that are very angry with the ad...are you kidding me...you stole us all that territory...and you are right...we are getting it back...we are conquering it again...how?...just see the numbers...you cant stop us...its inevitable...yes...death, taxes and mexicans in "your" country...just keep building your stupid wall in the border...it doesnt matter if you put all your army in there...we will continue coming and coming and coming...and very very soon Mexico will be complete again...VIVA MEXICO YOU BUNCH OF AMERICAN THIEVES...VIVA ABSOLUT VODKA AND MEXICAN TEQUILA...

I have just spent about 30 minutes of my day reading all posts on this part of the site.

It really saddens me that we are sharing a world where we can not get a long. I do not support, generally, any post. Everyone it's intitled to their opinion, but an objective opinion can not be objective when it's full of heatred, sarcasm, ignorance or just because inmaturity prevails.

I'm aware that for many Americans, living south of the border simply means poverty an "browness" (somebody wrote that word on one of the blogs). The truth is different, I will not say a 100%, but it's different. Many of us do not share such quality, aquired externaly for us. But that does not mean we do engage racism, even among us. Some do it, but just like everywhere in the world, thare are groups or people that are such way. We are, as well, a mix of cultures, very old cultures. Some of us do have "spanishness" on us, and some other don't, but that is because of a history matter.

Yes, we are a country with many problems, but we have so many good things. I read on a post that we in Mexico have no freedom of choice when it comes to buying... WRONG; we have freedom of everything, and we do consider us as a free country, at least I do, I don't feel represed by anyone or anything. Many Americans that come for the fisrt time to many cities in Mexico, specialy the main ones, get supprised for what they come to find.

Yes, there are many privileged people in Mexico, and I consider myself one of them. But after been around the world so many times, including America, I still see the same issue.

Every Country is different. Mexico ist' Tijuana, nor Mexicaly... we are a sovern country of 31+ states, and every single one of them is very different. Thos cities do not represent what Mexico realy is. It's like saying that many of the towns in Luisoana, Mississippi, and some southern parts of the US, represent what America really is. To make such statement is just wrong.

Yes, there is a story told in Mexico regarding how the north was lost, and as well how the south was won in the US. There is something in literature that has always prevailed, the story of the "conquered and the story of the conqueror": W all have different point of view, the truth is still out there, though. We can only rely on as many books we read about them, form every side.

What saddend me, also, is that ONE stupid ad lets us bring the worst in us. What I reay hate it's people that look forward to make others feel bad about themselves, that claim liberty but do not put it the act, that see colors but not attributes, and people that their main reason to live, is to hate others just for the sake of delirium of grandeur, I guess is more of a complex of inferiority.

Anyways, I guess Absolute, did get the results, because an ad cmpaig has to be studied, that's whay the have somethig on all eterprises called "marketing group", and everything that is happening, may have been analyzed previously. So, at the end, Absolut may have achieved their point, "positioning the brand on the consumer".

I hope the best for everyone, and remember... LIVE AND LET LIVE. (It does not hurt).

Cheers!

Chill out people, it's only an ad! Your over reacting to it only goes to show your intolerance and bigotry with the exception of a select few with enough brain cells to make of the ad what it really is.

And it's Mexicans --yes, capitalized, however painful that proves to be-- ;)

It seems to again show how people go off without a true understanding of history. Mike your right on target with your history lesson. The United States has been more than fair dealing with Mexico in this case.

As far as being uneducated and reactionary, where else can you get a "liberal" education in this world and still complain. I am proud of my founding fathers letters dealing with FREEDOM and HUMAN RIGHTS! When things go sour around the world who is asked to step in ?

The United States thats who. What kind of world would it be if we just said to you all "Get lost!" It is past the time that we found an alternative energy source and keep it for ourselves and turn our back on all of the complainers. Unfortunately we as a nation won't do so, we will continue to send our sons and daughters to die for your rights! just like my son did in Bosnia!

The womb of the Hispanic woman is the most powerful weapon of the reconquista. Our numbers will soon overwhelm the bigots and racists, and no damn wall is going to stop us. WE WILL BURY YOU!!! VIVA LA RAZA!!!!

How Dumb...
