Brazilian biographers may be thinking twice about future projects.

The crooner Roberto Carlos, a pop idol whose records have topped the Brazilian charts for decades, has managed to halt distribution of a new biography, reports Folha de Sao Paulo.

The book, ‘Roberto Carlos in Detail’ by Paulo Cesar Araújo, treats the singer favorably. But it also examines some sensitive details of his life, including a youthful train accident that left him without a leg. The incident is mentioned in standard biographies. But the star had previously sued to block a tabloid’s detailed recounting of the accident.

Roberto Carlos said he sought to ‘protect my privacy,’’ in comments to reporters when the new biography was launched in December.

After weeks of legal wrangling, the publisher, Planeta, agreed to take remaining copies of the biography off the market. The book has now become a collector’s item.
