In the city of Vernon, Timo Saarelma encountered a flock of seagulls as he walked along the L.A. River shortly before sunset on Feb. 13. The shadows and the reflections in the water emphasized the peacefulness of the moment, he said. Saarelma took this photo with a Canon EOS 7D.

Robb Wilson noticed the lighting in this parking garage while searching for his lost employee ID badge. "I was leaning over to the right side of the car, only to discover the badge had fallen out and was lodged in between the right seat and the arm rest in the center," he writes.
