On a snow day at the Los Angeles Zoo, Cindy Kauffman caught this tiger on the prowl for his two brothers. The three were chasing one another and having a blast in the snow, which was brought in for the cold weather animals, she said.

Kauffman said the tigers, bears and sea otters enjoyed being in a habitat they're more accustomed to than the usual bright Los Angeles sun. She shot the photo on Feb. 10 with a Nikon D7000.

Chris Valle stopped into Bahooka, the Rosemead restaurant featured in the film "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," for a few more bowls of flaming rum before it closes its doors for good next month.

"It's kind of a 'go to' for double-dates and birthdays over the years, and we wanted to go out in 'style'!" he wrote.

He shot this photo with a Canon EOS 7D on Feb. 17.

As part of a project focusing on public transportation, Mark Rosales caught this photo of pensive bus passengers and the reflection of a pizzeria on Feb. 19 at the corner of Broadway and 8th Street in downtown L.A. He used a Fujifilm X-Pro 1 with an Olympus OM 24mm Prime Lens.

Rosales typically shoots through the windows of subways and buses, and always asks himself where his subjects are coming from and what their stories are.

"Such a mix of people all coming from different places that led them all to such a confined space and every each one of them going to their own different destinations," he wrote. "You never know what you're going to witness."

Lenny Lloyd de Silva took this photo of a couple watching their two children flying kites at Point Fermin on Feb. 17. He used a Nikon D3100.

After running around trying to get the kites to fly, the kids seemed to lose interest, he said. They just liked being outside.

"The little girl was holding the kite for a bit and then just letting go, so then the whole family would have to chase the string. It was great fun to watch and just a great day at Point Fermin," he said.
