Approximate location of incident shown in red.

A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach after being struck by a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said.

The motorcyclist, whom passersby described as a man, was headed north about 7:45 a.m. and had just passed the 22 Freeway when something caused him to be thrown from his bike, CHP Officer Denise Quesada said.

A red pickup truck with a utility trailer then struck the biker, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A SigAlert was issued, closing off three lanes. No other information was available.
