Woman killed when SUV collides with semi-truck on 5 Freeway

A woman in a sport-utility vehicle was killed early Sunday when the SUV hit a semi-truck pulled over on the 5 Freeway north of Castaic, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 4 a.m.  on the northbound freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The unidentified victim died at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether she was the driver of the vehicle or a passenger, authorities said.

A portion of the freeway was closed while workers cleared debris.

The driver of the truck had pulled over and was asleep at the time of the accident, authorities said.
