Funeral set for Riverside officer allegedly slain by fugitive ex-cop
The Riverside Police Department officer who was killed last week in an alleged ambush by fugitive ex-cop Christopher Jordan Dorner will be laid to rest Wednesday.
Riverside authorities said on the department's website the officer's funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Grove Community Church and that "an Honor Guard procession will proceed to the Riverside National Cemetery for interment immediately following the service."
Authorities say that Dorner ambushed the 34-year-old officer and his 27-year-old partner while they were stopped at a red light at the intersection of Arlington and Magnolia avenues in Riverside early Thursday morning. Dorner then allegedly fled.
The 27-year-old officer, who was also struck by gunfire, is expected to survive.
Authorities have launched a massive manhunt for Dorner -- who is said to have pledged further violence -- throughout Southern California, but he remains at large.
