Police shoot man after he allegedly points gun at officers

Police shot and wounded a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers during a confrontation Friday night in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of 102nd and Main streets, where police responded to reports of a man with a gun, authorities said. Officers chased him on foot, then set up a perimeter to search the neighborhood. 

During the search, the man emerged and pointed a gun at the officers, authorities said.

The man's condition was not immediately available. Authorities have not disclosed his identity.

No officers were injured in the confrontation.
