A Marine corporal at Camp Pendleton was arrested and charged with murder Friday night in the death of an Army Reserve officer from Fallbrook, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

Kevin Albert Richard Coset, 23, was arrested on suspicion of killing Alvin Bulaoro, 24, a second lieutenant. Bulaoro’s body was found in the back of his Toyota 4Runner in Fallbrook on Jan. 3.

Bulaoro had been reported missing by his family on Dec. 21. The body was ‘zipped up in a sleeping bag and had signs of trauma,’ according to Lt. Glenn Giannantonio with the sheriff’s department homicide unit.

Bulaoro, an immigrant from the Philippines, worked as an administrator for the family’s business in Fallbrook caring for the elderly. He joined the reserves in November 2011 and was assigned to the medical corps.

His family spotted his SUV in the parking lot of a grocery store in Fallbrook and notified the sheriff’s department.

No motive for the crime was revealed.
