Man in wheelchair killed in hit-and-run accident in Pico Rivera

Police are searching for a suspect after a man in a wheelchair was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Friday morning.

Deputies responded to a call at 3:50 a.m. in the 8200 block of Whittier Boulevard in Pico Rivera for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a person in a wheelchair who was struck in the middle of the road, said Sgt. Ernest Bille with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim, a male Latino between 50 and 60 years of age, was killed at the scene, Bille said.

Deputies do not have a detailed description of the vehicle, which was last seen westbound on Whittier Boulevard over a bridge to Montebello, Bille said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Jose Marquez at (562) 949-2421.
