A short time later, police reported a call concerning three assault victims with stab wounds to their upper torsos. All three had driven themselves to Whittier Community Hospital. None of their injuries were life-threatening, officials said.

Two vehicles were seen leaving the area of the hit-and-run, KTLA reported, and one may be the vehicle that the stabbing victims drove to the hospital. It remains unclear whether the two incidents were connected, the TV station said.

Investigators believe a fight may have broken out at a party at a home in Hacienda Heights, KTLA said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
