L.A. woman arrested in Oregon in connection with mother's death

Thumb_PurvianceA 24-year-old Los Angeles woman wanted in connection with the slaying of her mother has been arrested by Oregon state police, officials said Friday.

Troopers took Laura Purviance into custody early Friday at an Interstate 5 rest area north of Medford, according to a statement by the Oregon authorities.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives had identified her as a suspect in the shooting death of her mother, 61-year-old Caroline Sue Purviance, the statement said. The detectives alerted the Oregon police about the daughter's whereabouts, according to the statement.

Citing an LAPD account, the Oregon police said the mother was found dead Thursday night in Los Angeles. An LAPD spokesman said late Friday that he had no further information.
