Hundreds mourn teen siblings killed by father in murder-suicide

Hundreds gathered in the quadrangle of Bret Harte Union High School in Calaveras County on Wednesday night to remember a brother and sister who were shot to death by their father in a murder-suicide.

Deputies say Alex Marshall, 17, and Micaila Marshall, 14, were killed by their father, Phillip Marshall, Saturday at their home in Murphys, Calif., before he killed himself.

The vigil was organized by the leadership group at the high school in Angels Camp, Calif. More than 500 candles were passed out to hundreds of mourners, KTXL-TV in Sacramento reported.

“They are still here. They’re definitely still with us,” said Sean Plummer, mother of the two slain teens.

She was on a business trip in Turkey when she received the word about her children.

“I’ve only been back for two days, I haven’t even processed what has happened,” she told television station.

More than 40 friends of the teens showed their support by staying with Plummer the last two nights.

“The kids at this high school have stepped up and shown so much courage and strength, and a lot of love,” Plummer said.
