A child who fell and became wedged between rocks at the Malibu Pier has been freed, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.

The 5-year-old had apparently slipped off of rocks next to the pier around 3 p.m. Saturday but was quickly released, county Fire Supervisor Bernard Peters said.

“The call went out at 3:04 and they released everybody at 3:51,” Peters said.

Although an Urban Search and Rescue team had been dispatched, the child already had been pulled to safety, supervising Fire Dispatcher Cheryl Sims said. The child did not appear to have any injuries requiring transportation to a hospital.
