A 46-year-old woman is in stable condition after she was stabbed in the neck by another woman during a party in Norwalk early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call of a person stabbed in the 15100 block of Alburtis Avenue in Norwalk about 1 a.m., said Sgt. Chris Mouat, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He said once deputies arrived they found a Latina who had been stabbed. She was taken to a local hospital by a witness to be treated for a single knife wound to her neck, Mouat said.

The suspect is a Latina in her 20s. Mouat did not release her name, citing an ongoing investigation. The two women know each other, but the motive of the stabbing remains under investigation, Mouat said.

The suspect is not in custody.

The stabbing is not believed to be gang related, Mouat said.
