Man's suicide threat shuts down Pasadena's Colorado Street bridge
Pasadena police and firefighters shut down the Colorado Street Bridge on Wednesday as they attempted to convince a man threatening suicide not to jump.
Passersby reported seeing a man sitting on the edge of the bridge just after 10:20 a.m., said Pasadena police Lt. Tracey Ibarra.
The standoff with the man, whose identity was not released, was continuing as of 2 p.m.
Firefighters set up a rescue cushion under the bridge in case the man jumped, said Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.
“We’re hoping for a good resolution,” Ibarra said.
A woman who was suffering from depression died after jumping from the bridge on Dec. 20, Ibarra said.
