Southern California Moments: Best reader photos of 2012

More reader photos: Best of 2012

Picking the 12 best photos over a year is no easy feat. There are so many photos, and so many different types of images, that finding a balanced set can become a challenge. It was extremely difficult in some cases to pick only one image to represent a month –- just go back to the “Best of” posts for April or July and you'll see.

Southern California Moments is already 2 years old -– that’s more than 730 reader photos we’ve selected. We’re looking forward to seeing all of your images in 2013 for the third year of Southern California Moments. Please keep them coming  here or through our L.A. Times Community group on Flickr.

READER PHOTOS: Best Southern California Moments of 2012

This year we'll be posting photos Monday through Friday instead of every day of the week. You can still expect to see our selections at 4 p.m. on L.A. Now.

We've gained a nice following on Facebook, but to keep our presence from getting stale, we're merging with the L.A. Times Local Facebook page. Selected photos will be posted there, plus stories we think you may enjoy.
