Small plane lands on mountain road in northern San Diego County

An experimental aircraft landed about noon Saturday on Eagle Peak Road near Julian in northeast San Diego County, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The pilot, the only person aboard, was uninjured and was airlifted by a Sheriff's Department helicopter. The incident is under investigation by federal authorities.
