Teenage skateboarder dies after Placentia accident

A 14-year-old skateboarder who was struck by a car Friday night in Placentia died Saturday morning, authorities said.

The vehicle’s driver, who remained at the scene, was traveling north on Rose Drive near the intersection of Castner Drive at 8:49 p.m. when he hit the boy. The boy was hospitalized in critical condition and died Saturday at 9:40 a.m. at Western Medical Center Santa Ana, according to Placentia police.
