Oceanside elementary school locked down as police search for gunman
An Oceanside elementary school was locked down Tuesday after unconfirmed reports of a person on campus with a gun, authorities said.
Officers began searching Laurel Elementary School at about 12:30 p.m. but had not found a weapon, police said.
The suspect was described as a possible homeless man with a beard, according to KNSD-TV in San Diego. He was seen carrying what "looked like" a rifle case near campus, the station reported.
The school was locked down, said an employee who answered the Oceanside police dispatch line.
