Records set as warm weather continues in L.A. area

Record high temperatures for the day were set or tied Monday across Southern California as the region continued to experience summer-like weather.
In downtown Los Angeles, a high of 81 degrees tied a record for the date set in 1912, according to the National Weather Service.
Bob Hope Airport in Burbank topped out at 81 degrees, breaking a record of 79 degrees set in 1976. In Ventura County, Camarillo Airport reached 84 degrees. That broke a record of 79 degrees set last year, the Weather Service said.
Vista in San Diego County recorded a high of 80, breaking by three degrees a record for the date set in 1976.
The warm weather was being caused by a high-pressure system that was expected to result in above-average temperatures through Tuesday.
Along the coast, high-surf advisories were in effect for beaches in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, the Weather Service said. Sets in excess of 10 feet were reported. The big waves were expected to begin decreasing Tuesday.
