A Harbor City man was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of breaking into a Rancho Palos Verdes home and robbing a woman at gunpoint, authorities said.

Authorities said they found him through a stolen iPhone.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials responded to a 911 call about 11:20 a.m. Friday at a home in the 32000 block of Pacifica Drive. The victim had been forced into a closet while the suspect ransacked the house, according to Lt. J. Wolak of the Lomita sheriff’s station.

The robber fled before authorities arrived. Cash, jewelry and a few other items, including an iPhone, were stolen.

“Through advanced technology, we were able to track the phone,” Wolak said.

Authorities located and arrested Juan Carlos Marroquin, 41, at his home in the 1500 block of 257th Street in Harbor City about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The victim’s husband had hired the suspect about four months earlier to clean the couple’s swimming pool, Wolak said.

Authorities urged the public to exercise caution when allowing workers access to their property, and to be sure to check business licenses and ask for references.

Evidence was collected at the suspect’s home, and the investigation is ongoing, Wolak said.
