Off-duty officer involved in fight with suspect at Whittier home

An altercation involving an off-duty officer was reported in this part of Whittier.
An off-duty law enforcement officer was involved in a fight at his Whittier home with a suspect who may have tried to break into the residence, police said Thursday evening.

The incident took place about 3:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Pioneer Boulevard, the Whittier Police Department said.

A police watch commander said tit was unclear what agency the officer works for or whether anyone was injured. 

The suspect fled. Police said investigators were at the home gathering evidence. No other details were immediately available.
