A Monterey Park police officer, who was assisting the Montebello Police Department in a manhunt, shot and wounded an adult male suspect, said Deputy Peter Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The shooting took place about 5:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Garfield Avenue, according to Gomez.

The man was taken to a hospital, Gomez said. His condition was unknown.
