Armed man barricades himself inside East L.A. home

An armed man barricaded himself inside an East Los Angeles home and fired a shot early Wednesday morning, causing authorities to evacuate surrounding residents, officials said.

The incident began at about 2 a.m., when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the 1000 block of North Alma Avenue to find a woman who said she had an argument with her son, who was holding a weapon, authorities said.

The man went into his bedroom and fired the weapon, and has refused commands from deputies and SWAT team members to exit the home, they said.
