Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Rockport

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Saturday morning 11 miles from Rockport in coastal Northern California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:10 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 12 miles from Cape Vizcaino, 12 miles from Laytonville, 28 miles from Fort Bragg and 145 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
