Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Laytonville

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Friday morning eight miles from Laytonville, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:46 a.m. PST at a depth of 5.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 14 miles from Rockport, 15 miles from Cape Vizcaino, 27 miles from Fort Bragg and 140 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there have been four earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
