Cold storm expected to bring snow and freezing temperatures

A cold storm is expected to hit Southern California on Thursday, ushering in several days of strong winds, sub-freezing temperatures and bringing snow levels to as low as 2,000 feet.
The National Weather Service said the storm could bring the coldest weather this winter with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Light rain and snowfall could create slick driving conditions, the agency said.
Powerful northwest winds are expected to cause wind-chill readings to fall below zero in mountain areas, according to the Weather Service. The cold spell is expected to last through Sunday.
Light rains were reported Wednesday night along the Central Coast as the system moved toward Southern California. Officials said high tides could cause flooding along the coast.
