The body of a transient, who appeared to have died of exposure in the record-setting cold, was discovered Monday morning in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The 58-year-old man's name has not been released because his relatives had not been notified.
His body was found on Hill Street between 1st and 2nd streets at 6:40 a.m., under blankets or a sleeping bag, according to Los Angeles police.
Monday morning's low of 34 degrees was a record for the date.
