Authorities suspect black ice caused a multi-vehicle collision in Beverly Crest that had traffic backed up on a busy thoroughfare Monday morning.

There were no reported serious injuries from the crash in the 3200 block of North Beverly Glen Boulevard, said Los Angeles police Lt. Debra Brounsten. Beverly Glen Boulevard will remain fully closed between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive until further notice.

‘It looks like there’s some black ice right there,’ Brounsten said.

There may be as many as five cars involved in the collision, which was called in to 911 at 7:17 a.m. by someone reporting an overturned vehicle, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. But the number of vehicles involved has yet to be confirmed by on-scene investigators.
