A sunny day in Southland, but 20-degree temperature drop is coming

Southern California will see sunny skies and warm temperatures Wednesday — but don’t get used to it.

The 70-degree weather across much of the region will drop dramatically Thursday, falling nearly 20 degrees in many places, said Stuart Seto, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

Downtown Los Angeles, expected to hit 70 degrees Wednesday, had a forecast high of 56 degrees Thursday; Woodland Hills is forecast to fall from 73 degrees to 54.

A cold front from Canada is to blame, Seto said.

‘Our neighbors to the north are doing it to us,’ he said.

Overnight temperatures should hover in the 40s, Seto said. The region probably also will experience breezy winds and, on Thursday, a chance of showers.

The cold weather? That you can get used to, Seto said. Although temperatures should rise a degree or two over the weekend, Southern California should be chilly for a while.

‘We’re going to be well below normal through next Tuesday,’ he said.
