Police in Arcadia responding to a citizen’s call about loud music Sunday said they discovered roughly 500 marijuana plants growing throughout the Santa Anita Avenue home.

Officers said that the growing operation was so extensive and took up so much room that the home was virtually uninhabitable.

When officers arrived, they said they found a man on the front lawn who directed them to a key. Inside, they said the odor of the plants was so strong they optioned to secure the residence until they could obtain a warrant to search the residence.

Inside the home was a very sophisticated lighting and irrigation system for the marijuana grow operation, police said.

Officers apprehended one suspect who they said was thought to be the grower of the marijuana plants.
