Woman dead, girl badly injured inside San Marcos apartment

A 41-year-old woman was found dead early Tuesday and an 8-year-old girl barely alive with numerous injuries inside a San Marcos apartment, authorities said.

The girl was taken to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego and was in critical condition, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Deputies went to the apartment at 3:30 a.m. after receiving an "incomplete" 911 call.

No additional information was released except that the person who made the 911 call is a relative and is cooperating with the investigation.
