Snow, wind pelt Grapevine on Interstate 5

Snow and fierce gusts pummeled the Grapevine on Interstate 5 on Thursday morning, but the wintry conditions were expected to subside by 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

With the temperature holding at about 39 degrees, the snow blanketing the freeway wasn't sticking, said weather specialist Stuart Seto.

Winds gusting at 20 to 30 mph, however, kicked up snow and reduced visibility in some areas to one-quarter of a mile.

The weather service also warned of icy roads and possible travel delays.
