A small plane, possibly with three people aboard, crashed Saturday morning near Lakeside in an undeveloped part of San Diego County, authorities said.

The plane may have just taken off from Gillespie Field in nearby El Cajon, authorities said. The Heartland Fire and Rescue Department responded to a report of a plane down near Sycamore Canyon shortly after 10 a.m.
