Police identify suspect in Lancaster sexual assault
Police identified a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Lancaster girl as she walked to school earlier this month.
Charles James, 30, is suspected of following the girl just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 13 as she walked to school in the 2000 block of East Avenue J-8 in Lancaster, authorities said.
The victim noticed a man following her and crossed the street. He did the same and soon after dragged her into bushes where he attacked her, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
He ran away after the assault. The girl went to a nearby home and contacted Lancaster authorities. She was later treated and released from a local hospital.
James’ last known address is in the Antelope Valley and he has previously lived in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Long Beach, Palmdale and Lancaster.
He is described as being 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with dreadlocks. Anyone who sees James should not approach him because he is regarded as dangerous, authorities said.
Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273 or LA Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
