A 42-year-old man died Saturday after he was struck by two cars while crossing a street in Palmdale, authorities said.

The man was crossing East Avenue S near 50th Street East about 3:35 p.m. when a driver heading east in an Acura ‘lost control of the vehicle,’ which spun and struck the pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale station.

The man was thrown into the westbound lanes of Avenue S, where he was hit by another vehicle, authorities said. The man, whose name has not been released by authorities, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Antelope Valley Times said the man was carrying groceries as he crossed the street. Authorities said he was not in a crosswalk.

Authorities did not immediately report any citations for the drivers, who were identified as Kaleb Taylor, 22, and Vanessa Downs-Bell, 52, both of Palmdale. Taylor was driving the Acura that initially struck the man, authorities said.
