A man was fatally shot and another critically wounded Christmas morning in a shooting in a residential Pasadena neighborhood.

Police were summoned to the 1900 block of Newport Avenue near Wyoming Street about 11 a.m. on a “shots fired” call, said Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema. Two men, their ages and names not yet released, were taken to a hospital, where one died and the other clung to life, he said.

Police closed off an area between Lincoln and Mentone avenues and Montana and Idaho streets into Tuesday evening as detectives investigated the double shooting. A red sedan riddled with bullet holes was towed away.

“We don’t have any information on the suspects yet. Our investigators are still working it,” Hettema said.
