Mushrooms sprouting through floors of rundown Sacramento apartment
Some apartment dwellers in Sacramento are upset that mushrooms are sprouting up through the floors of their rundown complex.
Natalie Wise, who lives in the complex owned by Whisler Land, said the company offered to put her in another unit, but after transferring electricity, cable and Internet bills, she cannot afford the move and wants Whisler Land to cover the costs.
“I am on a fixed income," Wise told Fox40 in Sacramento. "It is Christmas. At the beginning of the month I paid my bills in full so that I can have something at the end of the month for my son.”
Since moving in this year, Wise says her apartment has flooded six times. She calls and emails the onsite manager, but says her needs are rarely met.
All tenants in the Diablo Rivera apartment complex received a letter asking that they no longer call Whisler Land company with complaints, only the onsite manager.
Wise says Whisler Land offered to cover the move, but not any other expenses. Whisler Land representatives did not comment when Fox 40 tried to reach them.
“I had to live with my mother for two weeks before I moved in here so that I could scrape every penny and make sure it was enough before I moved in here,” Wise said.
