Some LAX flights delayed by Midwest storm

A snowstorm battering the Midwest has delayed some flights from Los Angeles International Airport to the East Coast during the airport’s busiest time of year.

LAX officials said that some flights to New York’s John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports, in particular, had been pushed back, though passengers should still arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international trips.

That’s because Friday to Sunday will be among the busiest days of the year at LAX, the nation’s third-largest airport. About 2.2 million passengers are expected to churn through LAX over the next two weeks, about 5% more than last year.

The storm that snarled some travelers’ plans dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of the Midwest, the Associated Press reported, and is now barreling toward Canada. Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights Thursday.
