L.A. Now Live: After a long fight with cancer, facing death at 19

Times reporter Tom Curwen will join L.A. Now Live at 9 a.m. Wednesday to discuss his story about Jesús Garcia, a 19-year-old diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Garcia had his first seizure eight years ago. He had had three operations, the last in September 2011. There had also been radiation treatments and chemotherapy. Jesús thought he was doing fine.

But in early May, an MRI showed that the tumor in Jesús’ brain was larger and had been bleeding.

Curwen will discuss the story behind the story: how he learned about Jesus and why The Times spent months following the young man as he faced death.
