Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Tres Pinos

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Saturday evening six miles from Tres Pinos, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:43 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.9 mile.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 11 miles from Hollister, 14 miles from Chualar and 54 miles from San Jose City Hall.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
